WORK PERMIT IN TURKEY
Why Should you work in Turkey ?
Turkey has become a center of attraction for foreigners in recent years with its nature, seas, Bosphorus, culture, cuisine, clean and warm air, climate and hospitable attitude towards foreigners and the number of foreigners coming to Turkey to work has increased significantly.
Foreigners must obtain a work permit to work in Turkey. There are two ways to do this:
1- If the foreign person is in Turkey; Must have a residence permit for at least 6 months (this is the total residence period, not the remaining period). He/she can start working legally after obtaining the necessary work permit.
2- If the foreign person is in his own country; There is no residence permit requirement. After the necessary procedures are completed and the work permit is issued, the person can obtain a visa from the Turkish Consulate in his/her own country and come to Turkey and start working.

According to the law; The professions of dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, responsible manager in private hospitals, lawyer, notary public, private security guard, customs consultancy, tourist guide and seller of state-owned substances are prohibited to foreigners.Foreigners cannot apply for a work permit in these business branches.
Conditions that the Employer Must Provide
1. At least five TR IDs for each foreigner who will work in the workplace for which a work permit is requested. The employment of citizens is mandatory. If the foreigner requesting the permit is a company partner, the five-person employment requirement is required for the last six months of the one-year work permit to be issued by the Ministry.
2. The paid-in capital of the workplace must be at least 100,000 TL, or its gross sales must be at least 800,000 TL, or its last year's export amount must be at least 250,000 USD.
3. Article 2 is not required for permit requests for foreigners to work in associations and foundations.
4. Articles 1 and 2 will not be applied in the evaluation of work permit applications of foreigners who will work in domestic services, the education sector, and the Turkish representative offices of foreign state airlines. In other words, there is no capital or 5 employee requirement.
5. The monthly wage amount declared by the employer to be paid to the foreigner must be at a level compatible with the foreigner's duties and competence. Accordingly, taking into account the minimum wage amount in force as of the application date, the wage to be paid to the foreigner is at least;
- 6.5 times the minimum wage for senior managers and pilots,
- 4 times the minimum wage for unit or branch managers, engineers and architects,
- 3 times the minimum wage for teachers and those who will work in jobs requiring expertise and mastery,
- 2 times the minimum wage for foreigners who will work as acrobats and similar titles in tourism-animation organization companies and for foreigners who will work as masseurs, masseuses and SPA therapists.
- 1.5 times the minimum wage for foreigners who will work in other professions,
- Minimum wage for foreigners to be employed in domestic services,
6. They include;
- Tourism establishments with at least three stars certified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which prove that they have a licensed massage parlor, certified holiday villages, thermal hotels with an operating permit from official authorities,
- Turkish bath-sauna-SPA etc. Facilities that have agreements (contracts) with certified tourism businesses that host the complex,
- Sports centers licensed by official authorities that employ at least twenty (20) Turkish citizens,
- Requests for foreign employment in jobs that require expertise and mastery, such as masseurs, masseuses and SPA therapists, will be evaluated, and requests from businesses and workplaces that are not within this scope will not be deemed appropriate.
7. For foreigners who will be employed in jobs requiring expertise and mastery in the entertainment industry and tourism-animation organization companies, at least 10 T.R. In case of employing a citizen, five T.R.R.s for each foreigner. The quota regarding the employment of citizens will not be applied separately.
8. In cases stipulated in bilateral or multilateral agreements to which Turkey is a party, and in the evaluation of work permit requests for foreigners to be employed by public institutions and organizations in the procurement of goods and services through contract or tender procedures, the criteria specified in Articles 1 and 2 will not be applied.
9. In jobs requiring advanced technology or in cases where there is no Turkish expert with the same qualifications, the criteria determined in Articles 1 and 2 will not be applied upon the approval given by the General Directorate.
10. For foreigners, other than key personnel, who will be employed in enterprises that meet the conditions for Special Foreign Direct Investment, the criterion determined by Article 1 is the T.R. It is applied based on the number of citizens.
FOREIGNERS WHO DOESNT NEED TO FIT THESE CONDITIONS
Foreigners mentioned here are required to obtain a work permit in order to work but they are not being asked these conditions which is listed up.
- Foreigners whose mother, father or child is a Turkish citizen,
- Foreigners who have been living in marriage with a Turkish citizen for at least three years,
- Foreigners who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,
- Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit within the framework of the practices of Turkish and related communities,
- Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit within the framework of humanitarian considerations,
- Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit as victims of human trafficking,
- Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit with stateless status.
